KMC is Now Offering Online Used Restaurant Equipment Auctions

Almost all businesses are being forced to adapt during the COVID-19 crisis, and Kohn-Megibow Company is no exception. Because of social distancing measures, we are unable to host our usual bi-weekly used restaurant equipment auctions at our Anaheim headquarters. We are also very limited in allowing any customers to browse our warehouse in person.

Essential Equipment for Your Essential Business

Yet, restaurants are considered essential service businesses and they still need equipment. Whether they are upgrading commercial appliances, replenishing supply stock or converting to carryout and delivery-only services, restaurant owners still depend on KMC as their primary source of affordable new and used restaurant equipment. Therefore, our show must go on!

Online Auction Services

Until further notice, Kohn-Megibow will be hosting virtual online auctions with new listings posted every two (2) weeks. We have so much great used restaurant equipment available for sale, we want to do everything we can to get it in the hands of our customers. To do this, we have partnered with Proxibid, which is an excellent online auction service. Buyers are able to log in, preview and bid on any restaurant equipment in which they are interested. It’s a very easy-to-use platform and everything is done in real-time.

The way Proxibid works with KMC’s auction listings is similar to what you might find on eBay. We post the used restaurant equipment listings that include detailed descriptions, specs and photos. If you have any questions about any specific item, please feel free to call a Kohn-Megibow representative for additional information before you place your bid. Each auction is live for a set period of time that spans several days, so it’s not rapid-fire bidding like a normal live auction. There may be some special items we put up for using their live auction service, but most are timed so that you can bid at your convenience.

Buying Options

We’re still exploring all of Proxibid’s options and learning the system ourselves, so please bear with us as we temporarily convert to this online auction system. We’ve been doing live auctions at KMC for over 100 years and we will return to them when social distancing requirements are eased in California. If these online auctions prove successful, we may continue to utilize them for certain added services in the future—as a supplement to our live auctions for customers who prefer to bid online. You can also contact us directly if you are looking for something specific and want to buy a piece of equipment outside of an auction.

How Do I Sign Up and See What’s for Sale?

When you visit kmcsales.com, you will see a red bar at the very top of the page that says “Click Here to Register and View Our Online Auction.” Click there for more information and to sign up. You can bid on any auction items currently up for sale or keep checking in as new equipment is added every couple weeks. Pay careful attention to the bidding rules and closing dates.
