Everyone is adapting to doing new ways of doing business in 2020. Unfortunately, it’s hard to say when we’ll ever get back to doing live used restaurant equipment auctions at the Kohn-Megibow warehouse. We hope it’s sooner rather than later, but it will likely be a while before we can safely resume our normal auction and equipment preview processes.

Virtual Online Auctions

Until that day comes, we will be using Proxibid to conduct virtual online auctions. We weren’t sure about this system at first because it’s such a different style for us, but it has been working great so far. We are getting a broader range of buyers from all over the country, and even our local regulars are loving the simplicity and convenience of the online auction process. You can bid on anything from anywhere, and there are many cool features that will help you get the most out of your bids.

If you haven’t yet checked out KMC’s used restaurant equipment listings on Proxibid, we encourage you to at least take a look. You can browse our available listings without having to create an account. However, if you want to bid on anything, you will need to set up your free Proxibid user account. Once you are logged in, you can use all their tools to bid efficiently and effective on any piece of restaurant equipment you need.

We are doing our best to provide as much information and as many pictures as possible for each piece of used restaurant equipment that we post for auction. Helpful Bidding Features

Otherwise, Proxibid makes it super easy to bid and you have more time to think about your bids and prices compared to a fast-paced live auctions. Most listings we put up online are for 14-day bidding periods, so you have plenty of time to do research, explore options and shop around before you commit to placing a bid. You can also use built-in features like the automated “maximum bid” option that allows you to put in the maximum amount you are willing to pay. The system will then bid for you incrementally to get you the lowest possible price—unless the auction surpasses your limit, which you can increase at any time if you decide you are willing to spend more.
