In 1924, we established our first dedicated facility at 5025 S. Figueroa, a building that still stands today. Named after Kohn’s daughters, Sylvia and Rose, this location served as the heart of our operations. In 1947, Sol Megibow joined his father-in-law, and Kohn-Megibow Company was officially born.

For decades, we specialized in auctioning off restaurant, bakery, and market equipment throughout Southern California. After Mr. Kohn’s passing in 1956, our company thrived under Sol Megibow’s leadership. In 1973, his son-in-law, Stephen Grove, joined the company, ensuring continued innovation and growth.

During the 1960s, Mr. Megibow introduced the practice of purchasing failed restaurant equipment and relocating it to our warehouse for auction. This game-changing approach allowed us to provide used restaurant equipment at unbeatable prices, making it easier for business owners to equip their kitchens affordably.

By 1980, under Stephen Grove’s leadership, we expanded into a 20,000-square-foot warehouse in Los Angeles, further solidifying our reputation as the go-to source for high-quality used restaurant equipment. In 1990, we relocated to an even larger 40,000-square-foot facility in Anaheim, California. With industry veterans Stephen Grove, Mark Alderson, and Sherrie Gailey leading the way, KMC Sales continued to thrive and expand.

Today, we process more than one complete restaurant, bakery, or market liquidation every day.
